Hi, I'm Fiona

WHERE I COME FROM

Hello everyone! My name is Fiona and I'm a recent graduate of the University at Albany with a bachelor's degree in journalism.

I currently serve as the Assistant Director of Outreach and Promotion for the University at Albany's College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity. In my role, I write press releases for the college events, faculty research, and student success stories. I also work on marketing materials for the college, run all of their social media accounts, as well as draft media advisories to pitch stories to local news stations.

My Experience as a Communications Specialist

My career interests involve working in journalism or public relations for various media companies and news organizations. My past experiences involve preparing for the daily press briefings as a White House Press intern, creating a podcast series for the International Center of the Capital Region, and writing press releases for university's office of communications and marketing. These internships have helped me gain the skills and expertise in reporting, writing, editing, social media, and research.

My ultimate goal is to continue working in the mass media field as a news anchor to continue sharing my passion as a storyteller and communicator.
